Pam and Tommy get paid
A
US judge today ordered an internet company to pay Baywatch
actress Pamela Anderson and her ex-husband Tommy Lee
$US741,000 ($A1.33 million) in damages for selling a video
of their honeymoon sexual escapades.
The 1996 film has become one
of the most-sold sex videos around the world.
District judge Dean
Pregerson said in a written ruling released today that
Internet Entertainment Group should pay $US741,000 to
Anderson and Lee as their share of the profits from the
video cassette and DVD sales of the film.
The film of the couple
camping and fishing and having sex during their honeymoon
was officially said to have been stolen by workmen from
their house.
An earlier court hearing
ruled that the couple had lost the right to try to ban
publication of the video as they had spoken explicitly about
it on a radio program. Then in 1997, IEG, which is based in
Seattle, Washington, made a fortune selling the film on the
internet for $US50 a copy.
The couple, who have since
divorced, started legal action in 1998 seeking damages for
invasion of privacy and copyright breaches. There have
already been a number of settlements in the case.
